The Department of Health said in a statement yesterday that it is following procedures leading to the purchasing of pills through tendering regulated by local legislation.
In those cases where alternative medicines are equivalent to each other, the medicine for which the most advantageous offer is made, is chosen, as long as the principles of quality and efficacy are adhered to.
The department’s decisions with regards the choice of pills is based on consultation with experts in the field of medicine.
This is also applicable with regards current changes taking place for the granting of pills controlling fat levels in the blood.
