Msida St Joseph FC have succeeded in signing three very important players for the upcoming season: Pio Schriha, Emil Yantchev and Adrian Farrugia, after earlier this month they reached an agreement with Charles (Hassu) Sciberras to extend his contract with the club by another 1 year till end of season 2006/2007.
Defender Pio Schriha, 26-year-old, ex-Mosta is now a player of Msida SJ FC after accepting a 4-year contract with the club. He joined his parent club Mosta FC 10 years ago but now he is attending training sessions under the charge of Coach Patrick Curmi.
Another important central defender is the 31 year old, Bulgarian Emil Yantchev, who last season he played for champions B’Kara FC. This is the second year here in Malta for Emil Yantchev and he is very happy that he joined Msida St Joseph FC on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the club’s foundation and the team is surrounded with a good number of talented young players.
The third signing is that of midfielder Adrian Farrugia who last season played for San Gwann FC. Farrugia already played for Msida few seasons ago but now he is back with the squad and looking forward for a successful season.
Msida St Joseph FC yesterday played the first friendly match of this season against u/19 Scotland team. Msida won the game 4-0 and the scorers were; D. Nwoke (3) and P. Fenech. The game was played on the new surface pitch at Luxol St Andrews and was followed by a good number of Msida supporters.
On the other hand Msida FC will be launching the new official website; www.msidastjosephfc.com tomorrow, on the occasion of the feast of their patron St Joseph. The website will be given a facelift, with more information and becoming more user friendly.
