World Ranked number One, Massimo Cremona next season will feature for Italian giants Perugia, currently holders of the European Champions League and Coppa Italia besides finishing runners up in the Italian Serie A league.
After an excellent season, where he went to the Number one spot in the World Ranking and Finalist in the World Cup held in Germany, there was no doubt that Cremona was going to be the main transfer target by top clubs. As his contract with CS Reggiana expired, it made things easier for Perugia to acquire his signature as they negotiate directly with the Maltese player.
About this Cremona commented “This was my most difficult decision in my table football career. I like to thank CS Reggiana for the past season I played for them. They gave me a lot of experience and I gave them back as well with my performance during our games, but an incident that happened with my team mates of Reggiana during my World Cup final in Germany irritated me a lot. I took some time to reflect before I decide what to do next season. Perugia intentions were clear to strengthen their side with my services to defend their European Title which is going to be held in Lisbon, Portugal next October and to win the Italian Serie A League”
“With Perugia I join World Class players Massimiliano Nastasi and Stefano de Francesco who with them I can improve and develop my game more. Their are also Francesco Mattiangeli Andrea di Vincenzo and Marco Lauretti. The level in Italy is extremely higher than any other european nations. The last Champions League held in Murcia, Spain four Italian clubs were present in the semi final, Perugia, Reggiana, Napoli and Milano. I can say that the only challenge for next season honours in Europe as well in Italy will only be with Napoli.”
“My intentions for the rest of the year 2006 are clear, I must continue where I am till now, that to keep the Number one spot in the World Rankings till the end of the year, in October to win the Champions League in Lisbon with Perugia which will be record for my new club for the third time, as well as the FISTF World Masters for the top 12 players in the World next November, that also is going to be held in Malta.”
