Local Football: Premier League Standing Committee condemns MFA officials

The Premier League Standing Committee held its Annual General Meeting yesterday.

All clubs competing in the Premier League 2006/2007 where represented in this meeting.

During the meeting, Premier League Standing Committee, unanimously confirmed Mr Anthony Bezzina (Hibernians FC) as Chairman. It was also agreed that Mr Victor Zammit (Birkirkara FC) is to fill the post of Vice-President while Mr Stephen Abela (Hibernians FC) that of Secretary.

Topmost of the agenda was the way the paedophile case of the “grounds man” at Pace Grasso was handled by the MFA Bureau. After lengthy discussions The Premier League Standing Committee issued the following statement.

“The Premier League Standing Committee unanimously condemns the MFA Officials involved in the issuing of the decision in the case concerning the ‘grounds man’ responsible for Pace Grasso ground Paola.

It is the Premier League Standing Committee’s firm belief, that such a sensitive case had to be handled with the highest responsibility and transparency so as to safeguard the interests of local football and furthermore that of Maltese society in general”
