‘Mill-Blat Insawwar Holma’ – Poems by George Borg 1992-2004

Malta Independent Monday, 24 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Poetry is regarded as one of the most satisfying and rewarded therapeutic exercises and George Borg’s contributions to the genre surely make one smile wryly at times. He is a typically romantic poet, full of enthusiasm and zest for life and searching for that elusive love which is so rarely found.

Nostalgia for youth is one of the main leitmotifs in the book with poems such as Ghad Nerga, Ejja and Xi Darba, all permeated with an almost unbearable longing of those days that will never return.

Borg is also an acute observer of human nature and creates strong parallels with manmade creations especially in the poems Kappella Pprofanata, Fil-Girna tal-Qortin and Kemm Tperpirli.

The book is an ideal read on a hot sultry afternoon that is the rule for the summer months that lie ahead.
