A Maltese trio of shooters – William Chetcuti, Jason Aquilina and Nicky Carabott – will be taking part in the 49th world championship in Zagreb, Croatia. The event is organized by the International Shooting Federation.
Chetcuti will be taking part in the Double Trap competition while Aquilina and Carabott are enlisted to take part in the Trap competition.
Aquilina and Carabott are already in Zagreb. They arrived there on Saturday as their competition is to be held on Wednesday and Thursday and that includes the final (barrage). Participants will shoot over three rounds (75 targets) on the first day and another two rounds (50) on the second day, ahead of the barrage.
Chetcuti is to leave Malta next Friday. The Double Trap competition is to be held on 31 July. Competitors will shoot over three rounds (150 targets) and the top six go into the final which will also be held on the same day.
Accompanying the trio are coach Jimmy Bugeja and Shooting Federation Secretary Rennie Grech.
