A 24-year-old market hawker was yesterday fined Lm500 after being found guilty of selling 2,360 audio CDs, 985 DVDs and 490 Playstation games, which were all pirate copies over the past three years.
Alan Debattista, from Pieta, had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
However, magistrate Antonio Mizzi cleared two other hawkers of similar charges; 55-year-old Joseph Difesa and 31 year-old Michael Sultana. But, the pair were both fined for assaulting a certain Silvio Baldacchino. The court fined Difesa, who was also found guilty of relapsing, Lm300 and Sultana Lm100.
