A travel agency yesterday filed for libel against The Malta Independent on Sunday in connection with an article about tipping on cruise liners.

Allied Travel Services Limited took offence to the article “Maltese cruise line passengers cry foul over tips charge” which was published on the 9 July edition of the newspaper, which they claimed was libelous and tarnished the company’s good name.

The company requested the court to order the defendants to pay out not more than Lm5,000 in compensation.

Dr Michael Tanti Dougall and Dr Ian Vella Galea signed the writ.
