Sigma coatings have been known and used in Malta as early as the 1960s and have been produced in Malta by Sigma (Malta) Ltd. since 1983. The company became wholly Maltese owned in 1987. Sales have increased annually from the start, indicating the popularity of the product range and the reliability of the brand.
Sigma products range from small cans of paint sold through local ironmongery stores in every village to large consignments of heavy duty coatings produced specially for industrial projects. Each week, at least two of the ships calling at Malta’s Freeport pick up a stock of Sigma coatings for maintenance at sea.
The company’s production base in Qormi was destroyed by fire in 2000 but the company moved to a new factory which it quickly outgrew. In 2003, Sigma (Malta) Ltd. moved to its current premises in Kordin, trebling its production capacity.
The company is backed by the full technical support of Sigma Kalon which employs over 10,000 employees worldwide and has a turnover of almost two billion euros.
