Malta Independent Wednesday, 26 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The Malta Arts Festival – Summer 2006 will feature a vibrant concert entitled “Pianos two Percussion” at the Temi Zammit Hall, Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta on Thursday 3 August at 9pm.

“Pianos two Percussion” is a unique combination of two pianos and percussion by four Italian artists. Pianists Marco Marzocchi and Cristina Biagini, together with percussionists Rodolfo Rossi and Andrea Biondi will perform a programme of 20th century classics.

The highlight of the concert will be the Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion by Béla Bartók. The performance of this 20th century masterpiece will be delivered with great exuberance due to the virtuosity of the music and bravura of the musicians. The programme also includes Ravel’s Ma Mere l’Oye, Piazzolla’s Suite Portena de Ballet and Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

The Malta Arts Festival – Summer 2006 is organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts and sponsored by HSBC Bank Malta plc, the Valletta Local Council, Bank of Valletta plc and the Westin Dragonara Resort.
