Sliema Wanderers, starting with a 0-5 first leg deficit, seem to have no chance to overturn that result when they take on Romania’s Rapid Bucharest this evening at Ta’ Qali (kick-off 6pm).

But they will be trying to get a positive result from this outing against the Romanian Cup winners.

In the first leg a fortnight ago, the Blues conceded five first half goals, but managed to hold on to a goalless second half.

Today, coach Edward Aquilina may be tempted to make some changes to the side and the young Henry Bonello, who played as a substitute in the second half in Bucharest, could well start the match. He had also left a very good impression in the Euro Challenge Cup matches earlier in the season.

Also expected to start today’s match is newcomer Zdenek Svoboda who has yet to make an appearance for Sliema.

Striker Ivan Woods is also expected to return to the side after injury but Orosco Anonam and Noel Turner will still be missing through injury.
