Auditions for L-Isfida are being held this weekend, 28-30 July. All the auditions will take place at NET TV’s studios and students will be divided according to their preferred area of specialisation.
It all began yesterday at 2pm with the actors. Students had to present a monologue of their own choice, either comic or dramatic, after which the judges asked them to work on a short improvisation. This year there are 27 actors hoping to make it among the finalists.
Singers are being called for auditions this morning from 10am onwards. This is the largest of the groups (46 in all). All students auditioning had to prepare a song which they will be singing live. They may use a backing track to help them musically, or they may be accompanied on the piano by Mro Domnic Galea. The judges may also ask the students to do some vocal exercises, including scales.
The last group to audition will be the dancers, and 33 students will be auditioning tomorrow from 10am onwards. Each student will present a short dance to the jury. Afterwards the students will be divided into two large groups and they will be asked to learn some choreography by Felix Busuttil.
The judging panel will be made up of Chiara, Felix Busuttil and Alan Montanaro, who will be present for all disciplines, with guest judges, according to their specialisation, Alan Paris (actor), Justin Barker (dancer, choreographer) and Mro Domnic Galea (musician, composer).
NET TV will be transmitting all the auditions throughout August and September and viewers will be able to cast their vote through televoting and SMS. The final result will be announced on Wednesday, 4 October during the first programme of L-Isfida on NET TV. This programme will be broadcast thanks to the Valletta Waterfront, McDonald’s, Nivea Visage Young and Vascas.
