Lifecycle Challenge Starts today

Malta Independent Tuesday, 1 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The Travelex Lifecycle team arrived at the local school in Honefoss – Norway at 7am yesterday, after having travelled for an hour by coach from Oslo airport, and after an almost two-hour delay in Malta.

There they were greeted by the 13 members who had arrived three days earlier to transport the bikes and foodstuff, and who had made the necessary arrangements regarding transport and accommodation.

Despite their evident tiredness, the cyclists went eagerly looking for their bikes and most of them set to work with great enthusiasm to re-assemble them. The day was relatively easy, with most cyclists taking periodic naps to store up energy for the 10 days ahead.

The day also served for further team building, with cyclists and backup taking advantage of this pre-challenge day to build stronger relationships and experience being the full team in a confined environment for the first time.

Mass was held in the late afternoon, after which a hot meal was taken, and then most cyclists retired early, in readiness for today’s ride to Fagerness.
