The Ladies’ Running Club will be holding the 16th edition of its annual 6-mile road race on Friday 15 September at 6pm. A successful innovation in last year’s edition was a 4-mile walk held at the same time, and this will take place again.
The race and the walk both start and finish in Ta’ Qali at the factory of Mdina Glass, which is the main sponsor of the event. The route of the race will be the same as before, starting at Ta’ Qali, going down Rabat Road to Attard, working its way to St. Catherine’s Hospital and then heading back to Ta’ Qali. The walk will start and finish with the race, cutting straight through the top of Attard before heading directly back.
Again this year the LRC race is dedicated to fund raising for Cystic Fibrosis.
Generous cash prizes of Lm 30, Lm 20 and Lm10 will be given to first finishers of both sexes, and in addition a special prize to the first member of the Ladies’ Running Club will be given in honour of our dear long-time runner, Lina Borg Constanzi who passed away last winter and is sorely missed by the club and so many other runners and friends throughout Malta. All participants will receive goodie bags.
Sponsors for the race and walk to date are Mdina Glass, San Michel, and Scott Supermarket.
Applications are available through the LRC website at www.ladiesrunningclub.com or from Wally Galea Souvenir Shop on South Street, Valletta. The closing date for applications is 12 September, and no applications will be accepted on the day. Registration for the walk can be made only on the day of the race before 5pm. For further information one may call 21430137 or 21313300.
Prospective runners may join members of the Ladies’ Running Club in front of the Mdina Glass factory at 630am on 6 August to run the race route together.
