Malta’s under 17 team beat American opponents San Francisco Seals 4-2 on penalties yesterday after ending the match on a goalless draw. It was their first win after two consecutive 3-0 defeats.
The match was a balanced one, with both teams ending with ten men after Nathan Busuttil and Pedro Naranjo were sent off in the opening half.
Malta’s scorers from the penalty spot were Nathan Busuttil, Steven Bonnici, Miguel Ciantar and Sheldon Grech.
Today, Malta’s opponents will be Brussels, while tomorrow the Maltese boys will face County Armagh before the final placings are decided.
On Sunday the Malta Under-17 team will be playing their counterparts from the Republic of Ireland in a friendly international at Dalymount Park.
