In the opening match, Hibernians and Marsaxlokk shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

The best of the action was reserved in the second half, but it was only in the 85th minute that Hibs opened the scoring through Adrian Pulis. Marsaxlokk equalised two minutes later through a Bogdanovic direct freekick.

In the other match, Pieta Hotspurs surprised Valletta to turn a 1-0 half-time deficit into a 2-1 win – their first victory in the tournament.

Argentine striker Sebastian Monesterolo gave Valletta the lead in the first half, but goals from Anatole Debono and Quilin Refalo saw them taking all the points.
