Three Russian teenagers pleaded guilty yesterday to damaging three vehicles in Sliema on Monday morning.
The defendants, aged between 14 and 17, whose names cannot be published since they are still minors, admitted breaking the wing mirrors of three cars parked in St Ignatius Street in Sliema. and scratching them.
The Russians, who are currently studying English in Malta, were accused of causing damage to the cars owned by Stefan Polidano, Raymond Camilleri and Michele Colombo.
Before magistrate Joe Cassar, the teenagers said they were willing to pay for the damage, which amounts to less than Lm500.
Handing down his judgement, magistrate Cassar told them that they were in another country and therefore had to behave. “Enjoy it but do not cause trouble. You would have been better to have gone for a walk or a swim,” the magistrate told the teenagers.
He placed them on probation for a month, adding that there was no need for the teenagers to be deported.
Police inspector Romina Veneziani prosecuted while Dr Beppe Fenech Adami appeared for the boys as their legal aid.
