Humanitarian Goods sent to Lebanon

Malta Independent Wednesday, 9 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Following the appeal to the general public by the Civil Protection Department to collect goods for humanitarian aid purposes, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has announced that it has covered the transportation costs for the goods collected to be sent to Lebanon.

The goods, consisting of water, tinned food, baby food, biscuits, sheets and blankets, left Malta for Marseilles, from where they will be dispatched to Lebanon.

“The decision to cover the cost of this humanitarian exercise falls in line with the Strategic Objectives of Malta’s Foreign Policy, in particular Strategic Objective 18, which states that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to maintain a strong coordinating role in organising humanitarian assistance to distressed areas, in conjunction with the Civil Protection Department,” said Foreign Minister Michael Frendo.
