Maltapost Introduces parcel labels system

Malta Independent Wednesday, 9 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

In line with international standards, Maltapost has introduced a new parcel labelling system at its postal retail counters, which eliminates the need to affix stamps to parcels. This service is available for airmail parcels to foreign destinations.

Although the new system does away with the use of stamps for mailing parcels, people wishing to post parcels with stamps in their possession may continue to do so while their stock lasts.

In this initial phase, the A6-size label will carry details of the country of destination, zone, weight, barcode, date and postal costs.

The barcode and parcel details will also be printed on the client’s receipt, thus allowing for any necessary verification at a later stage.

The labels have been designed according to Universal Postal Union standards, and are in line with similar labels in use by the majority of postal administrations.
