Sixteen year old Diane Borg, the youngest athlete in the field, finished last overall after the four women's 100m heats yesterday.
Borg finished last in her heat (the second) clocking 12.42 seconds. Her personal best and seasonal best are 12.11seconds.
Winning the heat was Joice Maduaka of Great Britain who clocked 11.24secs. Second was Alena Neumiarzhytskaya of Belarus in 11.28, while veteran Merlene Ottey of Slovakia (now 46 years old), was third in 11.41. The front trio of runners qualified.
On Monday, Malta's other participant in these championships, Darren Gilford, was also eliminated in the men's 100m heats.
