National coach Dusan Fitzel has named his squad of 18 players for next Saturday’s friendly match against Slovakia in Bratislava.

Included in the squad is Lillestrom striker Michael Mifsud who at present, is passing through a rich vein of form with his club. Mifsud had missed the recent training camp in the Czech Republic because of club commitments. He is expected to meet the Maltese contingent in Bratislava.

Marsaxlokk are the most represented team with six players, while Sliema have five, though midfielder Stefan Giglio has not been included.

It is interesting to note that not even one player from the champions and Super Cup winners, Birkirkara, has made it to the squad. Most of their national team players are beset by injuries at present. These include Etienne Barbara, Michael Briffa and Roderick Briffa.

Other players out through injury are Hibs duo Adrian Pulis and Andrew Cohen.

The full squad selected by Fitzel is the following:

Goalkeepers: Justin Haber, Mario Muscat (Hibernians).

Defenders: Ian Azzopardi and Ian Ciantar (Floriana), Luke Dimech and Steve Wellman (Marsaxlokk), Brian Said (Sliema).

Midfielders: Roderick Bajada and Claude Mattocks (Sliema), Trevor Cilia (Floriana), Dyson Falzon (Valletta), Jamie Pace, Kevin Sammut and Gareth Sciberras (Marsaxlokk).

Strikers: Gilbert Agius (Valletta), Michael Mifsud (Lillestrom), Andre Schembri (Marsaxlokk) and Ivan Woods (Sliema).
