The young Bulgarian pianist Plamena Mangova is giving a piano recital at the Mediterranean Conference Centre as part of the Malta Arts Festival – Summer 2006. The recital will be held on Saturday at 9pm.
Plamena Mangova received her piano education from the Russian pianist Prof. Maria Kapatsinskaya at the State Music Academy in Sofia. She also studied with the world-renowned pianist Prof. Dmitri Bashkirov at the Queen Sofia High School of Music in Madrid for a number of years. In July 2003, Plamena became a laureate of the Juventus Festival in Cambrai (France), joining some of Europe’s finest young soloists. She is currently continuing her studies with the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth’s scholarship and resides in Brussels.
The programme includes Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, Beethoven’s 10 Variations from Salieri’s opera Falstaff, Schubert’s Sonata in A minor op. 164, 12 preludes from the 24 Preludes op. 34 by Shostakovich, Albeniz’s suite Iberia and 3 Argentinian Dances by Ginastera.
