The Malta Olympic Committee Hall of Fame recognises those persons who have contributed to Maltese Sport at the highest national/international level for a long period of time, whether as an athlete, coach, administrator and any other persons who have given an outstanding contribution to Maltese Sport.

The Hall of Fame puts on permanent exhibition the feats of its members, which allows us to remember and enjoy their past sporting achievements.

It also allows us to look back at our sporting heroes and recognise our great champions of sport. Members of the Hall of Fame to name a few, include: Anthony Cassar Torregiani, the first MOC President, Eric Pace Bonello, Founder and President of the Malta Sub Aqua Club, Budgie Dowling, a versatile sportsmen having been selected to play for Malta both at waterpolo and football, Lewis Portelli sports broadcaster and journalist with a career spanning nearly 50 years, John Ripard, one of our foremost yachtsmen and Fr. Hiliary. The total number of elected members stands at 23 (2003, 2004 and 2005).

Accordingly, the general public is being invited to put forward their nomination for this year's selection for the Hall of Fame. Period for consideration, that is, persons who have contributed towards Maltese Sport up till year 1980 are eligible to be nominated.

All nominations must be received by not later than 31 October 2006 and must be addressed to: The Chancellor Hall of Fame, C/o Malta Olympic Committee, Maria Teresa Spinelli Street, Gzira GZR06. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in December 2006.
