The Committee of the Zabbar Sanctuary Museum is to inaugurate a temporary exhibitions hall in the same museum. The first exhibition will display paintings by Oratio Italo Serge (1906 – 1978) from the reserve collection of the museum. These paintings depict events from the era of the Knights in Malta, mostly sea battles.

The new exhibition hall was refitted by members of the Museum Committee and other friends who offered their services free of charge.

Most of the paintings in this exhibition were commissioned by a former Parish Priest of Zabbar, Guzeppi Zarb, for a book which he published in 1969, The Zabbar Sanctuary and the Knights of St John.

The inauguration of the hall and the opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday at 7pm at the Zabbar Sanctuary Museum, Misrah tal-Madonna Medjatrici, Zabbar. The exhibition will be opened by Mariu’ Serge, daughter of the late painter.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 27 August to 10 September.
