Ten representatives from the Comune of Lanciano in the Abruzzo region in Italy this year attended the titular feast of St Joseph in Qala. The delegation, invited by the Qala local council, participated in a number of activities between 5 August and 7 August.
The delegation was led by mayor Filippo Paolini and Lanciano/Ortona archbishop Carlo Ghidelli, and included the local band president. The owner of one of the greatest fireworks factories in Italy Marco Lanci was also part of the delegation.
During its stay, the delegation actively participated in social, cultural and religious activites organised by the parish and local council of Qala. On Monday 7 August a meeting discussing the twinning agreement between Qala and Lanciano was held.
A programme of social, cultural and sports activities as well as exchanges were planned. As a result, the Menhir Qala Folk Group will participate in Lanciano's festa delle Doni on 6 September.
