The Royal Malta Yacht Club will be benefiting from new premises in the not too distant future.
The Commodore, Georges Bonello DuPuis, said yesterday a site had already been allocated by the government to the club. It is situated at Manoel Island, on the other side of Couvre Porte, facing The Ferries in Sliema. The place used to house the Phoenician Glass Blowers in the past. It will be close to a football ground to be built there to house Gzira United FC.
Bonello DuPuis said the club hopes it will not take long to sign the lease from the government. “The costs will be high and we would need all sorts of support, but we hope to have it finished in two to three years time,” he added.
