Welcome to the astonishing Ramla Bay Resort, a unique resort on the northernmost shore of Malta, looking across the azure waters of the channel to Comino and Gozo. Blessed with ample land, landscaped gardens, a sandy beach and rocky foreshore, excellent dining and professional staff, the newly refurbished four-star hotel has everything you would expect from a hotel of this category, but much, much more besides.
Refreshing
The entrance to the Ramla Bay Resort has been completed transformed. Step into the bright new foyer where sunlight is reflected in the copious amounts of soaring glass. The reception is sleek and functional, given a twist by the Balinese stone carvings sweeping up to the ceiling. Doors lead off to a wealth of facilities, ranging from a well-stocked mini-market to a games room and souvenir shop.
An alcove on the other side houses an Internet café. Just beyond it, curved teak beams in the Sunset Lounge are reminiscent of the sea, the illusion complemented by a full-size, brightly coloured luzzu. Teak furniture is used through to continue the Balinese theme. Enjoy music on the elevated teak decking that has been used to create intimate spaces, or watch the entertainment on plasma screens.
Refined
The Horizon restaurant will offer a choice of cuisines, with live cooking stations ensuring that everything is done to the client’s demanding tastes, no matter what the preference. Eat under its impressive wood-coffered ceiling, or dine outdoors. Choose whether you want to stay under the stars, under the thatched grass roof, or whether you prefer to dine in splendid privacy in one of the three gazebos.
During the day, you don’t need to drag yourself away from the pool. Make the most of the delicious dishes on offer at the snack bar.
Romantic
Dine in candlelight in the Indonesian-inspired Alang Alang, one of the most romantic spots in Malta.
Located by the pool, you can sit under the quiet rustling of the thatched grass roof on the elevated floor of this teak pagoda-style restaurant, looking over the twinkling lights of Gozo as they begin to emerge from the vibrant streaks of sunset on the horizon.
Whether indoors or outdoors, there is plenty of space for romance. The generously sized rooms all have a view, as the hotel is surrounded by sea and countryside, and the balcony is the perfect place to linger before the hotel’s many attractions tempt you down.
Reinvigorating
The unique location of the Ramla Bay means you can swim from the groomed sandy beach, take up one of the many temptations on offer from the water sports centre, dive or snorkel in some of Malta’s best locations, or just laze by the pools.
There are two outdoor pools to choose from, one of which has a small island in the centre, linked to the side by bridges, the ultimate indulgence. Swim up to the Sea Breeze pool bar or pull yourself round to the other side for an ice cream. And that is not all. The indoor pool, part of the Spa du Soleil, has teak loungers and a hydrotherapy pool nestling in the heart of an area with columns reminiscent of a Moorish palace. Sit in the swirling waters, overlooking the lush landscaping of the courtyard nearby.
Relaxing
Ramla Bay is a children’s paradise. There is a sandy beach with nearby play area and children’s pool, an amphitheatre for the animators in summer, rocks to snorkel around, gardens to wander through and a kid’s club. Parents can relax while keeping their children in sight, or leave them to amuse themselves in different ways.
Resourceful
Flexibility is the key when you combine work with pleasure. The Ramla Bay Resort has three conference rooms, each of which is equipped with all the audio-visual facilities you may require. Each conference room has its own spill-out area for relaxation, and can be adapted to classroom or theatre-style format.
This flexibility, and the superb, landscaped location, makes the hotel the perfect venue for weddings, banquets, family gatherings and a friends’ reunion. The gazebos offer a unique opportunity to offer discreet or private space for discussions or meals.
