Bank Of Valletta Premier League: Neighbours live up to expectations

Malta Independent Saturday, 26 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Neighbours and rivals Floriana and Valletta confirmed their magical start to the season, sharing four goals and producing a real spectacle that delighted the sizeable crowd present.

Surely at this early stage of the season, it was rather surprising seeing such a good display of fast flowing fooball from both teams.

The result is the obvious outcome, as no one really deserved to leave the field empty handed. Valletta's Monesterolo confirmed that he is a lethal striker, taking his tally to six goals in two matches. Ian Zammit played a blinder with his constant runs on the right, being also instrumental in Valletta's second goal.

If the 4-1 win over Hibernians in the first match surprised a lot of local enthusiasts, yesterday's showing by the Greens confirmed that they have all the ingredients in their young side, to make a positive season.

Valletta had a glaring scoring chance after barely 30 seconds of play with Agius passing to Zammit.
