Shooting: Frans Pace 15th In Slovenia tournament

Maltese Trap shooter Frans Pace placed 15th yesterday among the top European shooters in a competition in Maribor, Slovenia.

He hit rounds of 23, 22 and 24 clays on Saturday and 24 and 23 yesterday for a total of 116 out of 125. However, he was two short clays from qualifying for the finals.

Also in Slovenia, Nicky Carabott scored 22, 24, 21,17 and 23 for a total of 107 and George Cassar managed rounds of 19,18, 20, 21 and19 for a score of 97.

Meanwhile, in a tournament for youths at Sabbia d’Oro, Venice, Italy, the Maltese juniors Trap team placed fourth in a European Juniors Shooting Tournament.

The U/21 team was composed of Ryan Bugeja, Justin Attard and Kurt Cardona. Marco Micallef participated in the U/16 Trap category.

Bugeja placed sixth overall with a score of 24, 20, 22, 22 for a grand total of 88 to qualify for the finals, where he hit 15 clays to finish sixth overall among 72 shooters.

Justin Attard managed had rounds of 20, 21, 23, 20 (84) and Kurt Cardona managed 21, 21,18 and 18 for a grand total of 78. Marc Micallef managed a score of 61.

Clive Farrugia was the only Maltese Skeet shooter at the tournament. He registered scores of 22,19, 22 and 22 for a total of 85 which enabled him to qualify among the top six to hit 21in the finals, finishing fifth overall.
