John Borg has again been elected to the chairmanship of his group (small clubs) in the European Club Forum for the next term, ending February 2009. He gained all the possible votes in the election, even those of the other candidates who contested the post.
Borg will again be the European Club Forum Blue Group board representative.
The plenary meeting was held at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
Borg represented Birkirkara FC at the Forum and this has now been the third term in which the club has attended this prestigious gathering of 102 top European clubs.
The European Club Forum has grown in stature since its inception in August 2002, as the clubs have used this platform to hold discussions directly with UEFA on a one on one basis.
One significant achievement of the European Club Forum Blue Group which was of benefit to the Maltese teams was the increase in solidarity funding.
The Member Status Committee of the MFA has ruled that persons under the age of 18 cannot be members of a club committee since they are still minors.
Such a ruling was based on the law which states that club committee members are legally responsible for the club.
