‘Skolasport’ Opens for registrations

Skolasport, organised by Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport and sponsored by Kellogg’s for the eighth consecutive year, is taking registrations for the forthcoming scholastic year 2006-2007.

Courses in Foundation and Participation programmes are organised for children between 5 and 10 years of age, while more than 20 sport disciplines are offered at different venues in Malta to young people whose age varies from 11 years to 16 years.

Most sports activities are held on Saturday mornings with the exception of a few disciplines such as Volleyball (Sunday), Modern Dance (Jazz) (Wednesday); Badminton (Thursday) and the new children’s ballet courses for 3 to 7 year olds (Monday).

For the first time ever Skolasport will be introducing Golf classes at the Royal Malta Golf Club which will surely prove exciting for all those who wish to practice golfing. Skolasport will also be introducing another dynamic and exciting programme called the Multiple Sport and Adventure Programme which will include various sports disciplines and outdoor adventure sport that will take its participants in an adrenalin high experience. The programme will include abseiling, climbing, trekking and camping, orienteering, kayaking and much more.

Other sport activities for participants aged 11 to 16 years include Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, BMX, Bowling, Dance Sport, Football, Go-Karting, Gymnastics, Judo, Handball, Hockey Netball, Rugby, Sailing, Softball, Squash, Taekwondo, Tennis and Traditional Karate.

For the past six years, Skolasport introduced the Foundation and Participation programme for primary aged children to acquire skill development in different sports activities. These are held at the Cottonera Sports Complex, the Marsa Sports Complex and at the University Sports Complex at Tal-Qroqq.

all participants will receive a free Kellogg’s t-shirt to wear during their training sessions.

Skolasport will also be offering a programme designed for children with special needs. This programme will be held at the Marsa Sports Complex.

For parents who accompany their children and other adults, Skolasport provides a sport activity class at the three main sports complexes.

Application forms may be collected from Kunsill Malti ghall-Isport between Monday and Friday from 8am to 1pm.
