‘Developing Women’s Football’ will be the theme of a four-day regional seminar between 11 and 13 September, for which local clubs will be invited to act as observers. The Maltese delegates will be MFA vice-president, John Farrugia, women’s national team coach Pierre Brincat and Mary Micallef, a member of the Women’s Football Committee.

Vice-president Ludovico Micallef and assistant technical director Joe Mallia attended the UEFA Grassroots Workshop between 7 and 11 August. Delegates met to familiarise themselves with the UEFA Grassroots Programme and the Grassroots Charter.

FIFA Fair Play Day activities will be held during the weekend between 22 and 24 September. To mark the event, the Fair Play Committee will be organising ceremonial entries on the field of play by players and match officials behind ball-boys carrying the Fair Play flag, while a short message will be read for the occasion. This will be held at different venues.

There will be 64 teams in the Futsal League 2006-2007. Fourteen teams divided into two sections will each form the First and Second Divisions. The Third and Fourth Divisions will each have 18 teams, divided into three sections.

FIFA Referee Chris Lautier was appointed to control matches in the UEFA Regions Cup Mini-Tournament between France, Ireland, Spain and Lithuania.
