Football - BOV Div I League: Mqabba Beat Mosta in match with dramatic finish

Mqabba registered their second win of the season beating Mosta in a highly exciting match, with Mosta coming from behind, almost snatching a dramatic equaliser.

Mqabba looked set for an easy win by taking a 3-0 lead by the 70th minute.

Mqabba led by two goals by the interval with John Paul Muscat and Chibueze giving them an easy lead.

On the hour Mqabba scored their third through Nicolo’ Baldacchino.

But Mosta had other ideas as they stormed forward scoring a good goal through Brian Agius, and an Ives Bilocca penalty five minutes from time.

The final minutes were intense with Mosta desperately surging forward for the third goal, but Mqabba held well to go on top of the table.

Vittoriosa S 2

Vittoriosa came from behind to obtain a deserved draw against San Gwann.

San Gwann built a two-goal lead against the run of play with a Doncic header on 15 minutes and a Buttigieg penalty on the half hour.

Just before the break Vittoriosa came back into the game with a Cedric Sciberras goal after an Anywanna shot had hit the upright.

At the start of the second half Stephen Calleja obtained the equaliser form close. San Gwann played the last 20 minutes without captain Saliba who received his second yellow.

Vittoriosa pressed in vain for the winner and had to settle for their second consecutive draw.
