The women’s football for season 2006/2007 will start today with a match valid for the Super Cup between Champions Hibernians and League runners-up Birkirkara (Kick off 7.30pm)
This inaugural match of the new season is being played at the Luxol Ground, St Andrews, where a good turnout is expected to watch the current top two teams on the Island.
Meanwhile, the league programme is due to get underway today week, on 26th September, at the same venue. This opening match is between St Venera Lightnings and newcomers Mgarr Utd. Kick-off is at 8.15pm.
There are eight teams competing in the Women’s National League, which is expected to attract great interest among the participants and their supporters.
The teams, representing a fairly extensive cross-section of localities around the Island, are Birkirkara, Hibernians, Melita, Mgarr, Mosta, Rabat, Sliema Raiders (formerly Raiders) and St Venera.
