Shooting - European Commonwealth Championships 2006: Malta Skeet Team win championship

The Malta Skeet team yesterday won the European Commonwealth Shooting Championships which were held at the Shooting Federation ranges in Bidnija.

The Malta team composed of Clive Farrugia, Darren Vella, Jason Sciberras and Max Fenech, were leading after the first day which consisted of 75 clays.

In yesterday’s competition the competitors had a 50-clay shoot and a further barrage of 25 clays for the six best placed shooters.

Malta won the competition with a total of 430 clays, follwed by Wales with 424.

In the individual competition Allen Malcom won the competition with a total of 141 clays. Darren Vella placed second with 136, followed by Jeremy Julian with 135.

Clive Farrugia finished fourth with 130, and Jason Sciberras placed fifth with 127, following a shoot-off with Bechanan Alec.

Allen Malcom with 117 won the best foreigner shooter category, followed by Jeremy Julien with 114.

In the pairs event, the Welsh couple - Jeremy Julien and Allen Malcom won with a total of 231 clays.

Malta A - Darren Vella and Clive Farrugia, came second with 221, whilst Malta B - Silvio Attard and Robert Mula were third with a total of 212 clays.

Darren Vella won the local Class A competition with 114, followed by Silvio Attard with 110.

In Class B, Noel Attard won with 107 followed by Paul Sant with 102.
