A 30-year-old man from Qormi was jailed for three months yesterday and fined Lm100 after he admitted being in possession of a quarter of a kilogramme of cannabis.

Rudybens Agius admitted to being in possession of 250 grammes of cannabis resin that was found in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

Sentencing Agius to three months in prison and a Lm100 fine, magistrate Lawrence Quintano said he had taken into account the fact that the accused had filed an early guilty plea.

Dr Franco Debono appeared for the accused.
