Car Wash marathon to raise money for children

Malta Independent Thursday, 28 September 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

For the third consecutive year, volunteers from Agenzija Appogg are organising a 50-hour car wash marathon in aid of the Appogg Children’s Fund.

The event will once again be held at the Ta’ Xbiex Marina (next to the Black Pearl Restaurant), starting tomorrow (Friday, 29 September) at 6pm, and coming to a close on Sunday, 1 October at 8pm. Several local personalities will be present to help out during the car wash. Those wishing to support this fund can also make their donation through HSBC account number 089059745003.

The Appogg Children’s Fund is aimed at assisting children, directly or through their carers, in meeting their basic or special demands. Often, situations arise where children need material support immediately, and the carers are unable to provide this support. Particularly urgent situations are those in which children require food, clothing, medication, uniforms, books, payment for a school outing or project, sportswear, visits to a medical consultant, or specialised treatment (medical or psychological).

This car wash marathon is one of several other fund-raising initiatives organised since the setting up of the fund in early 2004. Other initiatives and annual events include hairdressing marathons, the baking of Easter figolli, football tournaments, a fund-raising diving experience for Appogg staff and their friends, and car wash marathons in 2004 and 2005.

The general public is once again invited to support this 50-hour car wash marathon in a bid to raise more money for Appogg Children’s Fund. A bar will also be available, and there are great prizes to be won.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Agenzija Appogg would like to thank all the organisations and individuals who are supporting this marathon, including Alfred Mizzi and Sons, Gelati Riviera, Carta Converters, Rimus Riley, Prime Ltd, Sergio’s, Piscopo Cash and Carry, Towers Supermarket, Smart Supermarket, Ignazio Anastasi Ltd, Vascas Enterprises Ltd, Alfie Hair and Beauty Salon, Zonqor Point Restaurant, The Avenue Restaurant, and T.A.G. (Automobile Products)., among others.

Agenzija Appogg forms part of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services which also incorporates agencies Sedqa and Sapport.
