Malta Independent Thursday, 5 October 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Week 11 marked the half way point and the end of round one in the current Middlesea Valletta Life National League at the Eden SuperBowl, where Fina First still lead Division I by four points (64pts) after a 6-2 win over Sagio Investments.

Aercomms also claimed six points against Sammy’s Embroideries but remain in second place ahead of HSBC, who drew 4-4 against Redwell Heating this week.

Ramis have improved to fifth place thanks to a 2-6 victory over La Spigola, and Vintage beat Royal Shock by the same margin, while Right Deal were the only side to take all eight points with their thrashing of bottom side, Faces.

Both Fina First and Sagio Investments got off to a low start in their week eleven clash, Sagio clinching it by just five pins (719-724) to open the scoring. Play improved in game two which saw the Div I leaders level the match with a sound 794-771 win, and Fina improved again to win game three 811-722 and so take the series points by 107 pins (2,324-2,217). Mark Spiteri (Fina First), 601. Simon Burke (Sagio Investments), 598.

Aercomms’ 2-6 beating of Sammy’s Embroideries followed a very similar pattern to that of Fina First, as they suffered a 771-694 defeat in game one.

Ramis improve to fifth place after taking six points from strugglers La Spigola, and they must be rueing the poor start they had to this season.

Right Deal scooped the only 100% victory of the week, relegation favourites Faces the team on the receiving end of the drubbing. Seventh placed Royal Shock went down 2-6 at the hands of Vintage, who are now sixth.

Redwell Heating and HSBC played a 4-4 tie in the final match of the week
