Malta's Under 19 team lost narrowly 2-1 against Messina Primavera in a friendly match played at the Stadio San Filippo in Messina, yesterday.

According to reports, the Maltese side, under the guidance of coach Edwin Camilleri, put up a creditable performance against the Sicilian team. After suffering two goals in the 5th and 50th minute, Malta reacted boldly and pulled a goal back on the hour through Tyrone Farrugia. The team maintained the attacking tempo in the latter stages of the match and were unfortunate not to level matters when they twice hit the woodwork, the efforts coming from Dylan Zarb and Tyrone Farrugia.

Commenting after the match, coach Edwin Camilleri said he was satisfied by the effort put in by his players in preparation of the forthcoming UEFA Under 19 commitments in Denmark later on this month.
