Malta's Tony Drago was eliminated from the Royal London Watches Grand Prix yesterday after he lost his final match against Paul Davison 3-1.
It meant that four players in the group had all won four matches - Paul Davison, Rory McLeod, Tony Drago and Chris Melling. But Davison's 3-1 victory over Drago saw the Yorkshireman through with the best frame difference.
By Tuesday it appeared that the contest was between Drago and McLeod, but two good 3-0 victories for Davison on Tuesday night against Mark Boyle and Rory McLeod saw the Yorkshireman creeping back strongly in contention.
Meanwhile, Malta's other player, Alex Borg, finished his commitments in style beating Adrian Gunnell 2-3. It was his second win in seven matches.
