After the successful end of the first series of courses offered by the Ministry for Gozo to adults in Gozo, 36 students were presented with a certificate of completion last Friday, at the University Gozo Centre, Xewkija. These courses, which were partially funded by the European Union, were in: Introduction to Agricultural Studies; Introduction to Business Studies; Introduction to eCommerce and IT; and Environmental Planning and Management.

During the presentation, the Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono congratulated the students who followed four of the several courses held at the University Gozo Centre during the last year through the EU’s European Social Fund.

Minister Debono said that during the same academic year, craft-related courses were held at the Wistin Camilleri Gozo Centre for Art and Crafts and courses in catering and tourism studies were held at the Employment and Training Corporation.

Minister Debono also spoke about the importance of education and how it should be an ongoing learning process.

The Ministry for Gozo is again providing more courses which aim towards improving the employability of Gozitans in several areas.

Currently, a second series of courses which is to end in June 2007 is being held at the University Gozo Centre as well as at the Wistin Camilleri Gozo Centre for Art and Crafts and the Employment and Training Corporation (Gozo).

This makes for a total number of 22 courses currently on offer, with 297 students participating.

30 courses were offered during the previous academic year.
