Appointment Of CEO, DCEO and COO at MITTS

Alex Attard has been named as the new chief executive officer for Malta Information Technology and Training Services (MITTS) Ltd.

Mr Attard has been involved in the ICT sector for a number of years, both locally and overseas. He takes up his appointment with MITTS Ltd after having held senior management positions with Verisign and Booz Allen Hamilton, a major international management and IT consultancy firm based in the US.

During his tenure in the US, he led assignments with major corporations in the US and Europe and was also responsible for the development and delivery of the portal for a multi-million dollar e-government initiative.

Throughout his career, both here and abroad, Mr Attard has worked on a number of high profile projects and initiatives, managed his own ICT organisation and gained vast exposure to business processes and different technologies.

Concurrent with the appointment of the chief executive officer, MITTS Ltd is also appointing Matthew Gatt to the position of deputy chief executive officer and chief operating officer. Mr Gatt’s last position was that of director of

corporate services with the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (Mepa). Prior to this, Mr Gatt held a number of other positions in the same and other local organisations.

Mr Gatt has broad experience in different business areas, coupled with a strong background in IT.

David Spiteri Gingell, the outgoing chief executive officer of MITTS Ltd, has accepted the government’s invitation to assume the position of non-executive chairman for a

period of two years effective from 17 January 2007.

MITTS Ltd provides ICT services and professional project management and consulting services to the Government of Malta.

It is dedicated to assisting the government in the transforming of technological innovations into real business

solutions.
