Go mobile’s campaign to promote young Maltese artists culminated yesterday when the name of the Share Your Flair winner was announced at the opening of a collective exhibition at St James Cavalier. Julian Mallia’s winning entry, entitled My Wine In Silence, won him a month-long, all expenses paid scholarship at a top Italian college of art of his choice.
In his welcoming address, Maltacom Group CEO David Kay pointed out that go mobile has always been at the forefront when it comes to promoting local art and culture and said that the Share Your Flair campaign was created with the aim of encouraging Malta’s young artists.
“The competition attracted participation of the highest order and offered the top 31 participating artists the chance to take part in a prestigious collective exhibition at one of Malta’s most beautiful art centres. Go mobile and Maltacom are committed to promote and support artistic and cultural initiatives, as well as events whereby funds are raised for worthy causes,” said Mr Kay.
During the exhibition the public has the chance of buying any of the works exhibited – with all proceeds from the sales being donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The participating works competed for a month-long scholarship, with all expenses paid by go mobile, at a top Italian arts college. Three judges: renowned Italian professor Vittoria Biasi, Din L-Art Helwa vice-president Martin Scicluna and art critic Miriam Galea – were appointed for their professional expertise and their respected reputation. After long consideration, Julian Mallia’s entry My Wine In Silence was judged to be the most deserving.
Go mobile decided to go a step further by featuring 12 of the entries, including the overall winner, in the limited edition go mobile corporate calendar. The calendar is being offered for sale at all go mobile Customer Contact Centres and all the proceeds will also go to the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The go mobile Share Your Flair collective exhibition will be open at St James Cavalier until 7 January. Admission is free.
