Sicilian Delights at the Manoel Theatre

Malta Independent Wednesday, 13 December 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Last Thursday, patrons of the Manoel Theatre emerged from the darkness of the theatre into the sweet perfume of freely-baked Sicilian desserts.

It marked the opening night of Fumia, the new café at the theatre, which is now under new management. The new venue has been launched following extensive refurbishment and in keeping with the festive spirit, free drinks and desserts were distributed all round, much to everyone’s delight.

Mr Fumia, the proud new owner of the café, was enthusiastic about the project. For him, running the café is more than just delivering a service – it is offering everyone a taste of Sicilian hospitality. It was obvious that each of the delicious sweet pastries being passed around was a labour of love. This was best demonstrated by the huge Cassatella Siciliana which was brought out at the end to celebrate this new venture.

The opening of the café marks the first phase of a larger project that will include the re-opening of the restaurant in January.
