Following the announcement last month of the investment by Lufthansa Technik Malta and the government in the new facility that is expected to be opened by autumn 2008, it has been revealed that the company will be creating another 500 new jobs. More than 400 of these will be directly related to aircraft maintenance, while over 100 will be related to ancillary services.
“This expansion project will create new opportunities in a growing and dynamic industry,” said Lufthansa Technik Malta chief executive Louis Giordimaina. “Lufthansa Technik Malta will be taking on new people in order for our company to meet the planned demand of workload and different aircraft types. As from tomorrow, MCAST will be accepting applications for courses leading to the acquisition of licences in the aircraft maintenance industry. This is the first in a series of courses focusing on the aircraft maintenance industry that will be offered by MCAST over the coming years.”
The 19-month course at MCAST is specifically designed to provide individuals with the necessary theoretical and practical understanding of aircraft maintenance. Part 1 of the course concerns Theory and Workshop Practice, while the second part is on-the-job training for students who are successful in the examinations at the end of part 1.
Entry requirements for the course are “O” level passes in English, Physics and Mathe-matics at Grade 5 or Grade C or higher, or an MCAST Engineering Foundation Certificate.
Applications will be received this week at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Corradino Hill, Paola, between 8.30am and 12.30pm and to manage the flow of applications, those whose surnames begin with the letters “A” to “C” should apply tomorrow. On Tuesday, applications will be received from those with surnames beginning with “D” to “M”, and people with surnames from “N” to “Z” will be registered on Wednesday.
Candidates should present original certificates and their ID card, together with photocopies of the front and back of the card. Application forms can be collected from Reception, Administration Building, MCAST Main Campus, Corradino Hill, Paola. Late applications will not be considered.
