Malta Independent Sunday, 24 December 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A website and server registered in Malta are said to be selling an anti-virus that can be had for free on the internet.

According to the French website Zataz.com, the new free anti-virus Avast is already attracting pirates and fake websites.

The new anti-virus has only just been launched and is being sold on various websites around the world. One of the fake websites selling it is avast-2007.com. This site, launched on 18 December, is registered in Russia.

On the same server one can also find another false site offering to sell copies of Acrobat-7.com. This site has been registered in Malta, says Zataz, since last October.
