Malta Independent Sunday, 24 December 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency announced last week that a Malta-flagged ship was among nine foreign vessels that were under detention in UK ports during November after failing Port State Control safety inspections.

The Malta-flagged ship Fortuna II, a general cargo vessel owned by Nadezhda Ship Management Ltd, was detained on 6 November at Tilbury. A total of 14 deficiencies was found, with expired Chief Officer and AB medical certificates, expired chart, missing passage plan, out-of-date nautical publications and an ISM major non-conformity (resources and personnel not according to SMS).

The ship was detained for one day and released on 7 November.
