Two motorists were seriously injured after they were involved in a traffic accident on the Coast Road on Christmas day at around 2am.

A Fiat Punto that was being driven towards Bugibba crashed head-on into a Fiat Punto coming from the opposite direction.

Both motorists, a 30-year-old man from Sannat and a 23-year-old woman from Kirkop were rushed to hospital and were certified to be suffering serious injuries.

Two 25-year-old girls, who were passengers in one of the vehicles, were also taken to hospital, but only suffered slight injuries.

The police are investigating.
