Court: Man And woman remanded in custody over drug charges

A man and a woman from Senglea were remanded in custody yesterday after pleading not guilty to a number of drug-related charges.

The accused are Jon Lawrence Formosa, 28, and 24-year-old Philianne Ceci. Mr Formosa alone was charged with trafficking heroin, being in possession of heroin that was found in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use and with committing these crimes within 100 metres of a youth centre, a club or a school.

He was also charged with breaching previous court orders and relapsing.

Ms Ceci was charged with

possessing heroin that was found in circumstances denoting it was not for her personal use and with committing these crimes within 100 metres of a youth centre, a club or a school.

Appearing before magistrate Lawrence Quintano, Mr Formosa and Ms Ceci both pleaded not guilty to the charges being brought against them. Magistrate Quintano denied their request for bail and they were both remanded in custody.

Dr Roberto Montalto and Dr Joe Giglio appeared for Mr Formosa and Dr Franco Debono appeared for Ms Ceci.
