Denner Clarinet Quartet At the next Lunchtime Concert

The next in the series of Lunchtime Concerts organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts within the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, will be held on Wednesday 12 January at 12.30pm in the Music Room of St. James Cavalier, Centre for Creativity, Valletta.

The concert will feature the Denner Clarinet Quartet who will perform three excerpts from the Sonata in G Minor by Albinoni, the Andante ed Allegro; Andantino and Allegretto from the Quartet by Mro Carmelo Pace, and three pieces from Klezmer Triptych by Curtis.

Tickets at Lm1 or 50c for senior citizens and students, for this 30-minute concert are available from the box office of St. James Cavalier or on telephone 2122 3216.

Today, the Denner Clarinet Quartet is considered one of the most versatile wind quartets on the islands. It started off in 2002 as a Clarinet Trio but evolved into a quartet with the introduction of the Bass Clarinet.

The members of the quartet are Lino Pirotta on the Bb/Eb Clarinet as leader and William Debattista on the Bb Clarinet. Neville Pace on the Bb/Alto Clarinet is currently substituting permanent member Stephen Dimech who is reading for a Master’s Degree, and Christopher Camilleri on bass Clarinet.
